Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Lena M. Sampson and I will be your 8th grade English Language Arts teacher this year. I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year! I have a dual degree from North Carolina State University in Middle Grades ELA and Social Studies Education and I am passionate about bringing relevance and 21st century skills into the literacy curriculum. Throughout the year I will strive to design, deliver and assess quality and rigorous instruction to students so that they are prepared for high school. Our first day of school is July 9 , 2019. During the first several weeks we will get to know each other, go over rules and expectations and delve into the curriculum! I believe that parent-teacher relationships are necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with parents via emails, powerschool, report cards, google classroom, and parent-teacher conferences. The information below will take you to our google classroom. Here you can find a glimpse into our daily classroom agenda, learning targets, dates to remember and homework. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. Let’s work together to have a great year ahead! Thank you!
Sincerely,
Lena Sampson

This is a running google slides site that informs students what we are doing in class, the objectives, and homework/upcoming assignments. We spend the first 2 minutes of every class reviewing this and it is updated everyday. Outside of class, students can use this for absent work or homework reminders.
